FTD Circular helps organisations save money, decarbonise, reduce waste and fulfill ESG goals - through practical circular economy implementation support - in the planning, design, specification, procurement, construction and de-fit/demolition of built environments.

Who We Are
Forward Thinking Design (FTD) is a Social Traders Certified (and People + Planet First Verified) Social Enterprise championing environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability and innovation in the built environment. Our groundbreaking initiative; FTD Circular, offers expert advisory, training, a circularity supplier directory, and - through our partner Hardcat - a cutting-edge traceability and asset management platform; all aimed at enabling the built environment circular economy in Australia.
What We Do
FTD Circular's solutions empower organisations to reduce emissions, eradicate waste to landfill, achieve verifiable ESG impacts, and unlock economic value through circularity implementation in planning, design, specification, procurement, construction, maintenance, and de-fit/demolition.
Who We Work With
Our clients span industries and sectors, including government, private sector and NFP, all committed to creating sustainable outcomes. FTD Circular provides practical tools, expert guidance, and advanced technology to help organisations meet their project budget, sustainability and social impact goals, and embrace circular economy practices as the new 'business as usual'.
Our Impact
FTD Circular is an initiative (and trading name) of Forward Thinking Design Pty Ltd - the first social enterprise of its type in Australia and co-creator of the world’s first, full lifecycle circular asset management digital platform (as recognised by Better Future Australian and WILD Global Design Awards 2024).
Historically, our clients have saved an average of 33% on renovation/refresh and/or fitout, using FTD’s circularity-centric approach to planning, design and specification, compared to industry standard approaches.
Additionally, so far, over 470 tonnes of material consumption, and loss to landfill, has been avoided - through reuse - on renovation/refresh projects guided by FTD.
And we've generated over $4.3million in social impact value through15,939 hours (and counting) of pro bono services/volunteering.
We acknowledge and honour the Dharug and Gundungurra people as the original custodians, and caretakers, of the unceded land where the FTDC team respectfully work and live. We owe our lives to this land and stand in awe of the design prowess and sustainability of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture. We still have so much to learn from this strong and enduring heritage, and we pay our deepest respects to all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Elders - past, present and emerging.
May we walk humbly the paths of your example.
